The ASB story

In 1847, at 7 pm on Saturday 5 June the Auckland Savings Bank, New Zealand's first savings bank, opened on Queen Street. ASB pledged to serve the community, to grow, and to help Kiwis grow. Since then, we have been committed to bringing New Zealanders the best banking products and services possible. Over the years, we've continued to rethink the way people bank and how they interact with their money and used these insights to develop innovative solutions that meet our customers' needs.

ASB is an internationally recognized provider of integrated financial solutions. We introduced internet banking to New Zealand. We were the first bank to enable you to pay with your mobile and launched the world's first digital money box for kids.

Social Contributions

The Springboard Trust's vision is to dramatically improve the life skills of young New Zealanders through enhancing school leadership capability. The Strategic Leadership for Principals' Programme (SLPP) is a 10-month, free programme that leverages cross-sector expertise to provide strategic leadership development and support for New Zealand principals. ASB was the first Strategic Partner of the Trust and over the years has provided many senior business leaders from within the business to support the programme as mentors and subject matter experts.  Over the last 5years, together we have been able to work with over 224 principals in five regions through the SLPP and Alumni programmes, impacting over 75,000 students.
