To carry out building inspections on all types of residential and commercial construction projects to ensure the building work complies with the Building Consent and the NZ Building Code.

We ensure that Auckland's built environment provides safe, healthy and accessible buildings for Aucklanders to live and work in.

Ensuring that there is a high level of quality for the construction of buildings in Auckland ensures we have a future-proofed housing stock for generations to come.

  • Phone interview to gauge experience and knowledge
  • In-person interview with a building inspections team leader

Remuneration & Career Growth

New recruit with at least 2-3 years experience in construction $60-75k.

Salary progresses up as competency level increases. An inspector with one year in the job generally earns $85-95k.

Work starts from home and can finish at home or in the office. Each inspector has their own Council car with all the PPE gear needed.

You can be based anywhere in Auckland but a preference is to place you near your home so travel times are reduced. Inspectors get their jobs scheduled each day on a mobile phone App and they complete each inspection using a digital tablet where photos and documents are attached to each inspection record.
