Your Moment to Shine.

Ngā Kaihoe is Auckland Transports new emerging careers program, attracting the most gifted scholars, interns and graduates.

The 18-month programme will equip you to problem-solve complex issues, think critically and use human-centred design approaches, while being part of a culture that truly values diversity and inclusion, while investing heavily in your learning and development.

For a period of 18 months, AT’s Kaihoe (grads and interns) will work under the guidance of one leader/mentor, being offered both stability and support. Working on different projects, with different teams and even other council family organisations, Kaihoe will gain new skills and deepen their knowledge of AT. Once the program concludes, our graduates will be seamlessly transitioned into permanent positions.

What Graduates Say About Them
  • The culture - it's so welcoming and allowed me as a graduate to feel equipped and supported into my role and as my first job in the real world.
  • Flexible working, culture and diversity, high value on wellbeing and the large scope of work you can get involved in.
  • My department has an amazing culture. It is really supportive and everyone genuinely wants others to do well so they are quick to offer assistance when needed
  • Sometimes the line between who does what and what project belongs to who is blurred, so some people don't take responsibility, which then gets confusing and annoying.
  • Processes can take a little while and there is more red tape around certain activities/tasks/projects than other organisations perhaps. It's a shame that the perception of AT from the outside is not reflective of the culture inside.
  • Sometimes the work can become repetitive

I loved Maths and Physics, however, the main appeal of engineering to me was the chance to positively impact the community.
