Whether you're finishing your degree or seeking hands-on experience before heading into your final year of study, you'll find space to be yourself and to achieve your goals at Audit New Zealand.

Why choose Audit New Zealand?

Know your work counts: At Audit New Zealand, we help to ensure that the country's public sector is reporting its financial and non-financial performance information transparently.  Your work counts, so we're dedicated to helping you do your best work.

Quickly feel part of the team: From day one, you’re part of a diverse and inclusive environment.  You're supported and mentored by your peer group, buddy, mentor and senior leaders.  You’ll feel connected to the people around you.

Accelerate your career growth: We’re committed to professionally and personally developing all of our staff.  You’ll receive training in technical and non-technical subjects to help you realise your potential and become a highly qualified auditor.

No one day is the same: There’s plenty of variety and opportunity to learn. We audit more than 800 public organisations; from hospitals, universities, and government departments to local councils, airport companies, and even the Cable Car in Wellington!

Our work makes a difference to the lives of New Zealanders - join us!

We have fantastic opportunities for summer interns and graduates to gain behind-the-scenes insights into a range of clients that provide critical services - anything from high-profile infrastructure projects to essential healthcare.

You’ll have all the tools you need to start your career on the right foot.  And with seven offices around the country, there's bound to be a location that suits you.

Recruitment Process

Applications for our 2025 Graduate Programme and 2024/25 Summer Internship Programme are now open.

Our recruitment process involves six simple steps:

1. Complete the online application form

  • You’ll need an updated copy of your CV and a cover letter.
  • Make sure your name is in the filename of any documents you attach.

2. Complete an online assessment

  • You will demonstrate your deductive, numerical, inductive skills.
  • The assessment will take 25-30 minutes to complete - don't leave it until the last hour!

3. Record a short video introduction

  • There will be four short questions to answer which takes approximately 10 minutes in total.
  • Don't forget to dress appropriately!

4. A phone call from our Audit New Zealand recruitment team

  • If you’re short-listed for a role, you’ll get a phone call from us.
  • We’ll ask you some general questions to get to know you better (nothing scary).

5. In-person interview day

  • After your phone interview, you may be invited to an interview day, to complete an interview and written case study.
  • We'll give you plenty of information to help you prepare, but our best advice is “Just be you”!

6. Offer

  • In late April, we’ll send out offers for our summer intern and graduate positions to successful applicants.
