What Graduates Say About Them
  • There's a good work culture, a strong focus on learning, and the opportunity to do a range of meaningful work.
  • How friendly and helpful everyone is, especially when you are new and trying to get used to the company. The work culture is also quite flexible, and I can fit my schedule around what works for me when it's possible.
  • The presence of a supportive and collaborative work environment. Our colleagues are not only friendly but also deeply invested in each other's success.
  • The variety of projects and jobs available so the work never feels repetitive. Great co-workers make the office an enjoyable place to come into.
  • Great work culture, co-workers are good to collaborate with on projects whilst also being good to talk to outside of work. The ability to work from home is also great and super helpful.
  • Slow phase of work and uneven distribution of workload through the period which can't be complained about much as this comes with Defence.
  • The traffic when going to and from work. Also not a lot of parking.
  • The time-consuming nature of procedures that are in place due to working in defence can make progress feel slow.
  • Probably how the graduate program is currently being remodelled (I understand this is due to people leaving) and that for right now any direction provided is very open-ended and it makes it hard to figure out goals. But in saying that direct management is still working to keep us on track, set goals relating specifically to our working department and involve us so that's good.
  • In big companies working with lots of people, can be hard to gather the required information.

Graduate Success Stories

  • Graduate stories
I was inspired to become an engineer by a mixture of my Grandad and Top Gun. My Grandad served in the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) as a Navigator and spent his whole career in the RAAF.

I have always enjoyed critical thinking and problem-solving ever since I was a kid. The more complex the problem, the happier I was to spend time trying to find a solution.
