Culture at BDO New Zealand

8.7
8.7 rating for Culture, based on 24 reviews
Please describe your company's culture both in the office and after hours. Let us know about the structure and hierarchy, cooperation and teamwork, and socialising amongst colleagues.
In the office is very collaborative, great to work with many different areas and clients under many managers. Outside of work there is a great core of young people doing social events eg indoor football, touch and other activities. Partners and higher managers are very easy to talk to and have just as much fun as the rest of us.

The structure is a partnership, meaning there is a hierarchy where the partners at the top. All the partners in the workplace are down to earth and respectful. All of the other work colleagues are supportive and want the best for each other. There is a good social element where everyone gets along and gets involved in social events outside of work.

Our office is really quiet but friendly. It has right amount of social interactions.

The culture in and outside the office is great. All people are always willing to help out, join in, or just have a chat, even the managers and partners. The Buddy system works very well with answering any immediate questions I face, but I also feel comfortable taking issues to my manager and other managers and partners if I need more in depth knowledge.

Culture is good, particularly in my team. No pressure to stay late or overwork yourself. People are reasonably social at all levels of hierarchy, generous and friendly. Can always get help if you need it.

I think that the company culture at BDO is really good, there is a nice rapport amongst colleagues within different teams. I have enjoyed getting to know other people from different service lines in the office, which was through someone I made friends with in my area (she already knew a lot of people which made it easy for me to meet new people). Within my team, I feel I can easily approach other team members for help. While there is hierarchy in the different positions, everyone seems approachable. I do have a great team though and am unsure of what it is like in other teams.

The company culture is great at BDO Auckland. People generally want to be at work and working hard. Most people are happy to help. In terms of hierarchy there is one like any firm as expected. However, most managers and partners are available and happy to help.

I would say that BDO as a whole seems quite good with regards to culture. Within my team there seems to be a bit of presenteeism embedded into the culture (i.e. if you are not at the o?ce and sat at your desk then you are not doing work).. My team at a managerial level and below is very friendly and we work well together.

After Hours - super social Work Hours - less communication, little feedback

The social aspect is excellent and is one of the reasons I love working here. It depends on the manager you are assigned to work for as to the attitude around overtime etc for each job.
