Management at Beca New Zealand

8.1
8.1 rating for Management, based on 27 reviews
How accessible are managers and do they make good mentors? You may want to address internal communication, performance feedback or praise and recognition.
Although busy, many of them have been absolutely amazing since they are always willing to explain things to be and provide guidance where I need it. We have regular personal development sessions with our team leaders throughout the year where we can express any concerns, ask for feedback or anything else on your mind which is great for career building. My section has also been very vocal about recognizing successes. I recently became a finalist for an industry award and this was celebrated in a section meeting.

Good opportunities if you are struggling to raise your problems Great mentors and offer lots of opportunities for informal feedback

In my experience, my managers are accessible and give helpful advice when i ask for it. My manager has a hands off approach which leave the ball in my court. This is fine most of the time however, problems can sometimes only be identified when its too late. Formal feedback processes have definitely improved since i started.

We have regular meetings with our team leads and managers, they are really approachable. We will have regular survey sent around in the team for feedbacks as well.

My manager is very good however there are others in the section which I am glad to not have.

My manager is amazing. Always available and concerned. Always takes time to talk to you and make sure you are managing well. Gives feedback in performance reviews, but you only formally meet once. However, she would easily move mountains for you. She actively cares and tries to make a very good work place environment. Quite understanding and accommodating. Also firm, so she is no push over.

I do not find my TL accessible as they always seem to be juggling time and do not provide with the attention required when it is sought. It then discourages individuals to seek advice, support or help from them. I also do not find the performance feedback or 1v1 conversations overly useful as to identify whether I am on track to meet my career expectations or whether there is work that needs to be done. I find that my SM and other seniors in the team have had to step into the mentoring role.
Midlevel
In short no. I feel as though I am a burden to my TL as they have very little to do with me on a weekly basis which makes my monthly catch ups difficult. Unfortunately, this has meant my SM has had to help out in this area which is appreciated. I find that there is a lack on my performance feedback and that I have to ask for feedback and then take this back to management as they have not asked those that I work with closely how I doing. I have found good mentors outside of management as there are other people that I feel I benefit from talking to.

There is a strong culture of frequent and useful feedback at my company between colleagues at all levels. I find senior management approachable and there is a good culture of mentoring.

My team leader is very helpful and approachable, my work managers who assign me work on my project are also very good and provide me with lots of help if i ask.

In my experience, my current manager seeks to get me feedback from those I work with as well as pushes me to get my own feedback from those I work with along with chasing up my development.

Focusing on Section Manager relations: Section manager availability and approachability is excellent. I feel very comfortable approaching section managers with questions related both technical and non-technical content.

Managers are legends. I have had great guidance, like I said you ask for help and you'll get the help and then some.

My old manager has been extremely difficult to work with. Her mood swings make it very hard for me to approach her. It's hard to change her opinion on things.

I'm highly satisfied with my accessible and mentoring managers. They ensure transparent internal communication, offer constructive feedback, and provide recognition for achievements. They are understanding and offer valuable advice, contributing to my professional growth.

Managers are around to answer queries and help with work. Career discussions are less frequent, but I feel comfortable raising queries or concerns with management if they come up.
