One thing that drew me to applying for the graduate programme at Contact is that they offer specialised work in some very unique places. For me, the ability to live in Central Otago on the Clutha River comes with the benefits of skiing, biking, surfing, hiking, all in some very sweet scenery. 

Electrical Engineering is a challenging field where every decision we make has its risks - the exciting part of my work is problem-solving.

It can be frustrating at times, but seeing the client’s vision come to life and knowing that the intended audience will hopefully take something away from it, really makes the job worth it.

Getting the space to collaborate with others gives me energy, and receiving positive feedback drives me - Contact always provides both.

The thing about my job it’s not too far removed from the real world. It’s easy to see how decisions made in the office influence the power generation that fuels New Zealand. Plus, the power industry is very interesting.

As much as I love the process engineering-specific tasks in my current rotation, I also love the collaboration aspect of the job. It fascinates me how all these different teams work together and give their best to achieve common goals.
