Career Prospects at Eagle Technology

Promotion possibilities are sometimes self-directed and currently a bit unclear on the progression.

Eagle has a history of ignoring people trying to progress/move up the ranks until they are about to leave, and then sometimes it's too late. They've tried to come up with an organized structure/programme for progression many times, but it becomes overly complicated and slow and it can be faster and better for people's careers to simply leave for another job.

The possibilities are great but again will note that I'm not too happy with the ways in which skills that are demonstrated through day to day work must be validated through certifications as it can take a lot of time to prepare for these where that time is not always easy to find. I'm not against certification but there should be some common-sense applied when the work is already being undertaken. Certifications can be a barrier for busy consultants to progress.

Id say there isn't really a clear path on how to move up the ranks.

Within the Graduate programme, there is a chance for the graduates to rotate between different teams and experience what it feels like to work in the different sections. Other than that, from witnessing first hand, some of the older graduates/interns ended up working and taking up junior roles within the organisation.

Within my team there is a hierarchy of years in the job but there is not clear path to promotions. Within the company as a whole there are jobs that you can move into that require more experience. The company is currently developing a program that is designed the improve the pathways to promotions.

Exposure and repetition. Learn as much as you can as fast as you can

Currently the ability to move up looks good. I have been offered a more permanent role for next year.

Unclear on career prospects within Eagle, though working at Eagle is a great way of getting established in the broader NZ GIS scene.

I only put a 5/10 to be neutral as it is too early in my time at the company to give an informed answer on this one. What does it take to move up the ranks? I can't say for sure but I'd guess having skill, a good work ethic, and being able to take care of the work that needs to be done.

There are many different promotion opportunities within Eagle depending on your interests. If I wanted to move more into a business focused role I can. Or if I want to focus on more technical aspects I can.
