A Day in the Life at Frequency

The work I do at Kāinga Ora is for their Retrofit Program, and I spend most of every Thursday morning preparing for the weekly meetings we have with one of the contractors we’re partnered with.

I pack up my PPE and head off for a site visit at one of my Ministry of Education major works projects in Hamilton. This meeting includes the client, school principals, Quantity Surveyor and site managers. Frequently run the meeting and will issue minutes following the meeting. Following the meeting, we have a walk around the site to check out the progress and do a Health & Safety review.

Time to start on the second project for the day. This is a school-led project, where we act as the school’s representative to administer the Contract and act as the Project Manager on the job. There is a site meeting with the contractor, architect, and school key contacts. Following this one-hour meeting, we complete a site walk around and Health & Safety inspection.

I personally find going out and taking short breaks every now and then good for my productivity and focus. Plus, the sun started to shine. Bonus. And I enjoy being able to alter my desk to a standing desk at points throughout the day to change things up.
