The opportunity

We’re looking for Graduates in Land Surveying to join to work on two exciting infrastructure projects across New Zealand - Te Ahu a Turanga – Manawatu Gorge and O Mahurangi Penlink. If you love the idea of working on site, working on structures and heavy civils and seeing a project come to life, this is the role for you.

As a Graduate Surveyor, you will be an integral part of our team and enjoy liaising closely with internal customers and external contractors, designers and machine operators.  You’ll provide day to day practical survey solutions, create designs on bespoke software, complete data processing and as built reporting, ensuring precision set out for our project in accordance with project guidelines.  This is a hands on role with a good combination of field based work and data processing.

Fulton Hogan are proud to be the Number 1 Graduate Employer for 2022 in the Construction & Property Services Division of the Prosple awards. At Fulton Hogan we work hard to be the best and this begins with finding, developing and retaining the best fresh talent in New Zealand. We understand that where you land your Graduate opportunity is the first step in your career, and with over 80 years’ experience, we’re committed to ensuring you grow as our business grows.

We offer range benefits including:

  • Structured training and development program
  • Medical and life insurance from day one
  • Mentoring from experienced employees
  • Flexible work arrangements to support a healthy work-life balance
  • Increasing our KiwiSaver employer contributions for service milestones
  • Family scholarship programmes
  • Long service leave
  • Corporate employee discounts with a large number of providers
  • Competitive salaries
  • Professional memberships
  • Study assistance

What’s in it for you?

We foster an inclusive culture based around family values. You’ll get the opportunity to work alongside teams of experienced professionals to support a variety of projects, in an environment that is rewarding, challenging and fun.

The Fulton Hogan Graduate program provides you with experience in all facets of the business on a rotational basis across two years. Rotations allow you to see our work in action, access environments for full Engineering New Zealand (formally known as IPENZ) competency development and get a feel for what areas you would most like to develop specialist skills in.

We really encourage and help you to work on both your professional and personal development.

Your technical knowledge and skills give you entry into the industry, but your on-going career success will depend upon you and your ability to lead and manage others. We will support you to develop these skills with opportunities, mentoring, feedback, and encouragement.

Here is the best bit…on average our new Graduates get promoted within the first 18 months of employment. So if you want an accelerated career path Fulton Hogan is the place to get it!

What you’ll bring to the table

To be considered for these roles, you will be in your final year of a qualification in Surveying at a New Zealand institution and be available to commence work in late 2024 early 2025. You must be a New Zealand Citizen or have a Permanent Residency to be eligible for these roles.

Graduate Success Stories

  • Graduate stories
I greatly enjoy the physical nature of my role. After spending a significant amount of time working almost entirely from behind a desk, I started to miss the exercise and even the feeling of making physical progress that comes with working on-site.

Work moves so quickly on-site and it’s amazing to see the planning which happens behind the scenes to make this happen.  I am also surrounded by a wealth of knowledge and everyone is always willing to take the time to explain why things are done a certain way.
