Please tell us about promotion possibilities and fill us in on what it takes to move up the ranks.
I started from the very bottom and am a graduate engineer now. I will be contract engineer after finishing a graduate program. The promotion system is well made and satisfied.

Starting off as a grad engineer and once I finish the two year programme I will progress to site engineer.

The company is very large and has many different roles that I can aim towards which are generally targeted towards internal hire where possible. From what I have seen, it takes a good bit of experience, the right relationships, and a strong work ethic to move up here
Graduate, Christchurch
I should be a site engineer by now, surprised it never happened if I am honest. A slight pay increase was ok, but I am working far above what I get paid so I would like a better pay increase and working title of site engineer. It doesn't help that I am going on an OE just after a year of working for FH, so I will be asking for that title when I come back and a better pay increase.

I am still a graduate and have only been with the company for 10 months so cannot really comment on this yet but, I can assure I have seen hard work get rewarded i.e., where graduates who are only in their 2nd year get pulled out of the graduate programme to permanent positions of the company such as management/assistant accountants etc., Feeling hopeful for my future career progression
Graduate, Auckland
Really big company so there are lots of opportunities to learn and grow. They work with you on career plans and make sure you're getting enough experience to get to where you want to be. Usually reasonably easy to do internal transfers as well
Graduate, Christchurch
Can't tell at the moment. Still a graduate.
Graduate, Christchurch
As part of the graduate program the formalised 2 years of graduate role then being able to move up from there is good. Unsure of what it will be like in the future for promotions and progression
Graduate, Wellington
I plan to leave the company and move overseas to decide where I want to go with my career before I think about ranking up internally: big world to see
Graduate, Auckland
Can move from site engineer to project engineer to zone manager. Need a sound technical understanding to progress to project engineer and need some financial literacy and planning skills. Zone manager requires a few more people skills as you are managing a heap of people.
Graduate, Palmerston North
The career progression within the company is well plotted with clear targets and directions to achieve the next step of responsibility. And the company provides the required training in order to reach those targets
Graduate, Auckland
I have wanted to early discuss the topic but nothing came of it. I am now developing my own career development plan asking around for input etc and hopefully some opportunities for promotion and progression come of it, it would be nice if this enthusiasm was also shared by my manager.
Graduate, Tauranga
extremely happy, knowing that there's promotion and career progression opportunities.
Graduate, Auckland
Still on learning phase at Graduate role and looking for region change to get involve with bigger scale project in Fulton Hogan at future.
Graduate, Nelson
Currently still in the graduate programme. There is plenty of career progression opportunities.
Graduate, Auckland
This is my first year, I have no idea what happens next.
Graduate, Palmerston North
At this stage this is not an option for me as I am still studying and my main goal is to finish study and gain as much experience as I can.
