Tom Paget

I love being able to work with a variety of people every day to help them achieve their goals. From helping them walk pain-free or returning to a sport or passion that requires functional movement – seeing the progression from where we started is so rewarding.

Describe a typical working day

Whether it is providing quality care to my clients at one of our sites or out in the community, each day is structured differently and is full of opportunities. From working with my manager to hone my skills to running pop-up clinics at Scot’s College, you will receive a diverse workload full of opportunities. Habit Health is an organisation that is focused on work/life balance and supporting its staff. For example, during the rugby season, I assist with a rugby team, and Habit Health is happy to provide me with the support to make this work.

What advice would you give incoming graduates? (List three things)

  1. Pace yourselves. There is still a lot to learn after university, and while you will want to learn everything quickly as possible, you have to accept that it will take time.
  2. Back yourself. While there is much more to learn, you will be surprised with how much you know and how well you can do your job with the knowledge and skills you have learned from uni.
  3. Find a way to wind down after work. Whether that be going to the gym, hanging out with friends or something else, it is really important to find a way to switch off and enjoy your life outside of work.
