Pros & Cons

  • The flexibility of being able to work from home and in the office. Allows for the benefits of working in an environment that allows you to engage with life outside of work that was unavailable previously while also gaining the benefits of learning from senior staff.
  • Global network, an opportunity to work on large-scale projects, competitive pay and lots of fieldwork.
  • The culture and work environment. The company makes you feel like you are genuinely a part of something greater and all employees are valued and given opportunities for their careers to develop in a multitude of ways.
  • Get to work on major projects that make a difference to surrounding communities
  • Growth prospects, I am consistently guided on the best ways to grow and develop in my role. I have involvement in a variety of projects of different sizes with great autonomy, allowing me to learn quickly.
  • IT support is slow
  • As a smaller office in a large company, it often feels like we are left out from the rest of the company and that there can be a disconnect at times.
  • Hot desking - would be nice to have designated areas for the teams (as in the 10 desks here are all for X team)
  • Unpredictability of hours during projects however this is the nature of consulting.
  • A lot of work

The culture is an area that is embedded from our highest levels of executive leadership right down to our smaller teams. Inclusivity and being able to be yourself at work are reinforced throughout the company and it goes far beyond just being a tick-box exercise. You really feel that these notions are meant and in turn, it has developed an amazing inclusive culture across the company. There is lots of collaboration and transparent leadership with our leaders being very approachable regardless of seniority. We have a lot of inter-company networks such as social committees, careers networks, and LGBTQI+ committees just to name a few and they are always running various events that are open to any employee.

The office is quite flashy and has modern facilities. All desks are hot desks that are booked on a daily basis so you can sit wherever you like. Boardrooms all have good tech equipment such as screens, webcams etc. The dress code is not strict but most people wear business casual from Mon-Thu and casual on Friday.

The structured graduate development program is amazing and so much is learned. It ensures that you gain exposure to other sides of the business such as operations, sales, and development that you may not have exposure to in your technical role. I now have a lot of knowledge about the financial, project management and bid process side and is now an area I would one day like to move into.

The company is very flexible with when and where the hours are worked. The hybrid work set-up makes it easy to work from wherever is most convenient. There is also flexibility with when the hours are worked, with the understanding that you can work hours that suit you as long as the hours and work are completed.
