Whilst only just completing the graduate program I know I am progressing to a higher role out of this. Beyond that, I don't have much knowledge but looking at the company it appears that it promotes based on skill rather than experience. It gives hope that if I do really well in my career it won't matter whether I'm young, I will be challenged with what I deserve.

Corporate Social Responsibility
Johnstaff are involved in numerous fundraisers and charity days with the aim to give back to the local community. One of the volunteer days I was involved in was a Christmas lunch provided to the local community of Woolloomooloo in conjunction with the local church.

Culture
Johnstaff is all about your work life balance. It constantly organises social events and everyone gets involved. Every Friday we get email updates on achievements during the week and every month we have a staff meeting to catch up with each other and learn about what's happening in the business. It's a great work environment because not only are we all colleagues but we're all mates who want to hang out after work too.

Diversity

Diversity
Johnstaff is a very inclusive company and as a whole is approx 50/50 men and women with a wide range of nationalities. No one cares what your sexual orientation is and the company is very accommodating to people’s needs outside of the workplace. The construction section of the company does struggle with gender equality, through no fault of their own. This is an industry wide issue and as the only current female in this area I hope I can encourage others to join.

I work with my colleagues assisting them in tasks. I will minute meetings (and sometimes run them), work with the client and trades to solve problems, audit safety conditions of the site and organise upcoming works.

Managers and mentors are accessible at all times. There is yet to no real divide between the works at Johnstaff regardless of roles and status.

Office Work Environment
The main office of Johnstaff is conveniently located near Martin Place and is a significantly casual workplace. Rarely will you see people in jacket and tie with my day to day outfit normally being a long sleeve button up and chinos.

Recruitment
I didn't even realise I was being interviewed! I thought we were waiting for someone else to come in to start but before I knew it I was finished. We mostly talked about interests both professionally and socially and it was clear they focused way more on getting to know who I was than how I did at university.

Training
Johnstaff offers for key internal training forums each year. I have attended 3 of the 4 as one has continuously been postponed but it is good to gain insight into Johnstaff's expectations and also how much you can see it's teaching the senior staff and not just the new kids.

Johnstaff is very trusting. They are much more focused on achieving a result than the hours you work. It will expect you to work hard and sometimes longer when needed, but when you don't need to they encourage you to take advantage of those times.
