Career Prospects at KPMG New Zealand

An advantage of working in a Big 4 firm is that there is always upward mobility, for the first few years it is almost an expectation for yearly promotions so long as you meet expectations. In later years you need to start performing well and having people/management skills displayed for promotions.

Promotion possibilities within the team look solid but likely depends on the current team structure and the type of work we get in the door

Moving up the ranks is a yearly occurrence for your first few years at the firm. I like the idea that promotion is very doable if you work hard.

KPMG has a high bar to work to for promotion but it is a great goal to strive for and the nature of the work environment and team means you are able to reach that high bar.

Rating system can be a bit unmotivational especially for a grad.

Pretty clear progression path if you stay at the company

yearly promotions with yearly base salary increase - my current understanding is that it takes the bare minimum to move up once every year up until AM1. After that, you must be completely differentiated from your peers to move up. I think this is acceptable

annual "promotion" is cool and can see the career path at a big 4 laid out but not much progression in other fields is spoke about and I think this would be a cool thing to implement. Most people leave after 3 years into other fields - and I think by talking about this it would help everyone.

I feel that the promotion possibilities are very good within this firm as it is always a constant promotion each year with the opportunity to get a double promotion with a good year end rating.

Consistent additional responsibility throughout the years, linked to pay increase also.
