Summer Clerk with us!

As a Summer Clerk you will complete two six-week placements from November 2024 to February 2025 with a three week break in the middle for Christmas and New Year.

You’ll have the opportunity to work across two different practice areas, so you can get a real feel for what life working in a full-service law firm is like. We’ll take good care of your social needs too, ensuring you have time to build relationships with our staff and of course the other clerks - to share stories and compare notes about your experiences.

You will be taken through a structured learning programme, to help you get the most out of your time. You will also receive regular feedback from Partners and be given a team buddy for each of your placements to guide you through the day-to-day.

As a Summer Clerk at Lane Neave, you will have the opportunity to immerse yourself into everything the firm has to offer, including multiple social events. A highlight is our all-staff Christmas party in Christchurch!

We are seeking talented and hard-working students in their penultimate year of study, who are passionate, will enjoy getting involved with everything our firm has to offer and have a desire to step out of their comfort zone to make an impression. This Summer, we have clerkships available in our Christchurch, Auckland and Queenstown offices.

About You:

By joining us, you will be comfortable analysing information from a range of sources, working collaboratively and entrenching yourself in our culture.

Key attributes for the role include:

  • A strong grade average;
  • Interests and experience outside of study;
  • Critical and analytical thinking, alongside excellent communication skills;
  • A friendly and positive attitude;
  • A professional and discreet manner; and
