8.30 AM

My day at work officially starts when I start up my work device. As soon as my device has started up, I will open the applications that I will use throughout the day for planning, development, and communications such as my IDEs, Microsoft Teams, Outlook, and Notion.

I will use this part of my morning to plan out my objectives of the day, which I keep track of using a Notion checklist that I create every day. I will go through team conversations that’d I’d previously missed checking if there are any objectives that I will have to add to my day.

8.45 AM

Once my planning for the day is done, I will make myself a cup of joe that will accompany me as I read tech newsletters that I’ve subscribed to so that I keep myself up to date on the newest tech developments and projects.

9.00 AM

We typically have team meetings in the morning, which I will prepare for 15 minutes in advance.

9.15 AM

At the team meeting, I will share progress on my deliverables and my expected time of delivery. The team will also plan for upcoming deliverables, which may be added to my list of deliverables for some later time.

9.30 AM

After the catch-up, I will start to work through my objectives for the day. In a typical day, this time will be spent developing new features or problem-solving to meet the requirements of our customers. This process can be collaborative, so I may discuss ideas and problems with other consultants to arrive at the best solution.

12.00 PM

I take 30 minutes to have lunch and re-caffeinate. I may sometimes have lunch alongside presentations that are held internally by members of Theta who have new and exciting digital developments that they’d like to share with the wider organization. These lunch presentations are a great way to connect with other teams and to get a sense of what they are up to. This may result in cross-team initiatives if we find commonalities or integration opportunities between the projects we are involved in.

12.30 PM

I will look through my objectives after lunch to ensure that my priorities are on track and check off any work I’ve completed.

12.45 PM

After lunch, I may have received responses from other consultants regarding the work that I’m working on, and I will work through their suggestions. Otherwise, I will continue to develop what I’d started on before lunch.

I will also receive additional inquiries and requirements from other consultants throughout the day, which I will get to according to their priority.

5.00 PM

Nearing the end of the day, I will consult my priority checklist, check off the bits that I’ve finished, and make a mental note of the things I will need to get to the next day. I will also make sure to commit my work so that I can easily pick it up the next day.

5.15 PM

I typically get off work at this time to prepare dinner, and in the evenings, I will go for a long run or read a book to wind down.
