Rise and shine! I wake up and eat breakfast.

Time to start work! On Tuesdays, we have a Zoom meeting with all the employees at Kami. Each team provides an update on the work that they have done over the past week. It is cool to see how everything comes together.
10.00 AM
I get straight to work. I check my messages to see if there are any new tasks for me to complete or updates from previous tasks. When I get a new task, I go through the requirements with one of the senior software engineers.

Sometimes, my tasks require me to learn new, unfamiliar technology, so I take some time to go over some quick online tutorials.
The technologies I get to use are CoffeeScript, TypeScript, AngularJS, Ruby on Rails, and many more!
So far, my tasks have ranged from fixing bugs to tweaking the app’s current features while I build up my skills. I am excited to start creating my own feature for the app soon!

Lunchtime! One of the perks of working remotely is being able to cook my own lunch at home. My favourite thing to cook is a cheesy chipotle pasta. Yum!

I continue my tasks for the rest of the day. Whenever I need help I can ask one of the other engineers, who are super friendly and helpful.
2.00 PM
Some days, I have a meeting with the Product and Engineering team. Each team member describes what work they have done since the previous meeting and what they are currently working on. It is nice to be able to get some tips or feedback from someone else who has expertise concerning your task.
4.00 PM
I test that the code works when I have finished my tasks and create a pull request on Github to be checked. Once all the checks are completed, my code is merged into the master branch.
5.00 PM
When I complete my work for the day, I go for a long walk around the neighbourhood with my sister.
6.00 PM
I eat dinner and spend the rest of the evening relaxing, playing guitar, and watching Netflix.
10.00 PM
It’s time to go to sleep, and do it all over again in the morning!
