Management at Fulton Hogan NZ

8.0
8.0 rating for Management, based on 25 reviews
How accessible are managers and do they make good mentors? You may want to address internal communication, performance feedback or praise and recognition.
The manager has no personal office room, he wants to communicate with all our staffs in open space.

Very accessible and helpful. They are very patient and always willing to answer questions.

Very accessible to chat with and structure their teams well. Regular chats and catch ups are had to keep in the loop and help where possible. Performance feedback is clear and recognition of a job well done occurs where appropriate.

I haven't really heard too much from him as I am not really working under FH CENTRAL, I am more working from WTPA alliance, which it feels like the workers that get contracted out to WTPA get sort of forgotten about within the FH departments. I could have called him up more asking questions about things but there were a bunch of PE's and a PM that have a great amount of knowledge that I could extract.

All the mangers are easily accessible, and you can learn a lot by being with them.

Accessible - highly accessible Mentors- yes my manager is a good role model to look up to but, since I am a graduate as part of the graduate program we get paired with mentors who accounting/finance higher management stuff. For e.g., - finance managers, general managers, commercial services managers etc., Approach to internal communication, performance, feedback, praise and recognition - communication: clear, performance: gives transparent performance feedback, feedback: provides insightful feedback in a timely manner, praise and recognition: given when needed and earned

I think the managers are often hired because they are good in their role, not necessarily because they have the ability to manage people well. They are often overworked themselves as well which means that managing the team often doesn't get the time it needs. Always really great with performance feedback, being positive and giving praise and recognition to their staff though

They are accessible. I haven't found my Manager to not make a very good mentor they don't show a lot of knowledge in their area of expertise and have made some decisions based on their opinion and not based on best practice, when this has occurred in the past I have professionally disagreed with their decision and explained why in hope they might reconsider their decision and said that I will support whatever final decision is made as I respect them as manager. Internal communication would be good if it was more in person or via phone call I am often given tasks by email and sometimes miss these if I am onsite. Performance feedback I have often initiated and asked for, this is given in a polite constructive way. I haven't discussed with Manager yet but I was re reading my performance review to develop my career plan and goals and we agreed in the meeting that I was sitting at overachieving but I see it has been changed to meeting expectations and this was not discussed to why that is, but makes sense on the praise and recognition side of things if this is the case. I find the character of my manager lovely and believe can work through these things.

Manager has been a great mentor not only in my existence to this company, he's made us welcome in to this company, he's held session for Grads where he's able to apply his experience and knowledge in educating us on the processes and how we could manage. So far, we have manage to use email and Microsoft teams to communicate, when I need something or when there somewhere I need to be. Recently had a performance which company hold once every year which was good to recognise is some areas and set some goals for what's to come in the next year.

Good managers, busy but still have time to support their engineers and provide constructive feedback.

There is a great variants between managers. Some are very approachable and care about there staff, whilst others are sited as the reasons for leaving the company.

Managers are pretty good. Sometimes it'd be nice to have more time with them in regards to training.
