Application Process & Interviews at Frequency

8.6
8.6 rating for Recruitment, based on 8 reviews
Please describe the interview process and assessments.
The interview stage consisted of many steps, such as the initial video, followed by the Auckland grad day, then a final presentation. By doing this, it allowed the team to fully understand ourselves and choose the best fit for the role.
Graduate, Tauranga
I sent in my application via PreviewMe however didn't hear back for many weeks. I then emailed a graduate in Auckland who sent my details to I believe HR. After this the process was easier and I had 2 interviews (first with 2 seniors in Wellington, and second with a partner in Auckland)
Graduate, Wellington
My hiring process was very relaxed and straight forward, however, I did not go through the typical process Frequency does now. I was offered the Graduate Role by my now senior, who was my mentor at the time I was in my final year of university. I then was passed on to have an introductory meeting/interview with one of the Partners, and I was shortly issued a contract.
Graduate, Wellington
2 Interviews. The first going over CV, questions to get to know you and scenarios. Second interview was less of an interview and more so answering any follow up questions, going over the finer details of who Frequency are the type of work they do.
Graduate, Auckland
1) Submission of 3 or 4 videos about myself 2) Invitation/participation at grad day (with speed dating style interview) 3) Presentation
Graduate, Auckland
Firstly, I had to send in four videos talking about myself including, talking a bit about who I was, what previous jobs I've worked in, how I found out about frequency and why I would want to work there. I also had to send in my CV and cover letter.
Graduate, Christchurch
There were two interviews for me. One with two Senior Associates, and one with a Partner. They were pretty informal and more about getting to know me as a person.
Graduate, Tauranga
3 Stages. Online Video Submission - be comfortable and talk normally. In real life interview and group interaction - see how you would interact with a group and team and ended with interview. Presentation - Presentation to see how you would talk and present.
Graduate, Auckland
- 1st Interview with HR and Senior Associate - 2nd Interview with 2 Partners

What questions were you asked in your interviews?
Along with the serious questions, there were also fun questions which allowed the team to get to know you more.
Graduate, Tauranga
When was a time you made a mistake and how did you solve it? When you have lots of tasks to get done, do you get stressed, and how do you deal with these tasks? What do you enjoy doing outside of work/study? What course did you enjoy most in your studies and why?
Graduate, Wellington
I cannot recall exactly what questions were asked, noting it was 2+ years ago. However, I can remember us talking about my previous experiences and what I have studied and my learnings from my courses.
Graduate, Wellington
What do you do in the situation where an upset client comes to you with a problem? If you had 3 wishes, what would they be? - Can't remember the others
Graduate, Auckland
In my interview I was asked questions such as - Can you describe a time you were put into a conflicting situation and how did you handle it - can you explain a recent time you have made a mistake or done something wrong and what did you do - if you were given work that you didn't want to do, how would you go about it - What made you apply at frequency - What line of PM are you wanting to peruse in the future
Graduate, Christchurch
Tell me about yourself - be genuine, don't spew about all these achievements that you have. The company wants to know you as a person not an achiever. If you could have 3 wishes what would you wish for? Why you see yourself in this role ? Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Graduate, Auckland
- What's most important to me in helping with projects in NZ? - Situational Questions
Graduate, Auckland
Do you have any specific tips and advice for candidates applying to your company? How would you recommend they best prepare?
Be yourself. As well as the serious interview questions, there is the chance to learn more about the team so fun questions were also mixed in.
Graduate, Tauranga
Be super genuine and don't think about what questions will be asked in the interview process. The more genuine you are, the more likely you'll proceed to the next stage/s.
Graduate, Wellington
I think it's important to relax and just be yourself.
Graduate, Auckland
Firstly, I would recommend you just be yourself. Speak truthfully and honestly because they are more interested in your personality and if you will fit in with the current staff and portray the morals and values frequency believe in. Secondly, do a bit of research into what the company does, where they work, what are some jobs they have previously worked on and what are their companywide values.
Graduate, Christchurch
Back yourself, and really drive the application. If you really want the job, make sure you let them know. You have to find a way to stand out and be different to other applicants. Pick up the phone, follow up after the interview etc. Get creative. You need to sell yourself and what you can offer to the company. How will they benefit by choosing you?
Graduate, Tauranga
Be genuine and show us the real you. Don't be fake - we can typically tell when it's a facade.
